Last session for 2021

Well, that’s been an odd year!

Tonight it was the first four of the bo staff techniques in Kukishinden, goho ura goho, sashi ai & Fune bari. After then, it was set up the striking pad and worked on good alignment.
And that is a wrap for 2021. We’ll be back as of the 1st, or 8th of February, so have a great Christmas and New years!

How slow can you go?

For tonight’s exercise, how slowly could I do bo staff spins without losing my balance and trying to keep my posture low and fluid? Surprisingly hard, as I’d find myself automatically speeding up.

Then it was picking apart Goho and Ura Goho with the same plan as with the spins, also easier said than done. 2 hours zapped past surprisingly fast.

Restarting after lockdown

We are back this Tuesday!

It will be non-contact, with masks on the whole time, and we all need to be fully vaccinated. On the bright side, the best way to work on distance is with a 6-foot staff (rokushaku bo) mixed in with Sanshin kata working on fluid motion and balance.
